“Excellent service, supporting clients return to work and improve their social skills/confidence etc whilst offering a valuable service to the local community.” (partnership agency quote)
Moving On Employment Project is a charity based organisation offering support to anyone over the age of 16 with any barrier to employment in Shetland. A barrier to employment can be anything that is holding you back from gaining employment, including health problems, disabilities, mental health or lack of confidence.
Moving On is recognised by the Department of Work and Pensions as a supported employment project.
The project is based at Market House in Lerwick however we try to support in all rural areas of Shetland. We have had successful placements from Unst to Sumburgh. We find, by supporting people in their local communities, it not only supports them back into employment but also helps them to feel part of their community and reduces social isolation.
Support offered by Moving On is person centred and takes into account the individual’s skills, needs and aspirations. Support can range from assistance completing application forms to helping to source and maintaining employment.
Moving On has two different services:
- Transition – For people age 16 – 25 with autistic spectrum conditions and/or additional support needs
- Job Brokerage – For work placements and paid employment (delivered as part of the local Employability Pipeline).
Both offer one to one support to assist people to reach their full potential.
