Moving On Employment Project has produced its Annual Report for the year ended 31 March 2014. They are pleased to announce that it has been another very positive year with all its objectives met or exceeded.
Recent welfare reform has meant that the number of people requiring support to enter employment in Shetland has grown considerably, last year 155 people were supported by Moving On. 100 people were newly referred in the year, 80% of whom were in receipt of benefits such as Job Seekers Allowance, Employment Support Allowance or Income Support.
69% of people using services successfully moved into employment, education or training and 79 people were discharged from the service. On evaluation 76% of services users are still in a positive destination such as work following discharge from services. Moving On also set up and oversaw 70 paid and unpaid work placements throughout Shetland.
99p of every pound spent last year went directly to support service users and 44% of funding received was from outside Shetland from funders such as the Big Lottery.
Moving On is pleased to report they have funding in place to provide services until 31 March 2015 and can continue to provide this important service throughout Shetland.
